Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson and former Vice Chairman, Balbir Ram Rattan, on Saturday said that the victory of BJP candidate Sat Sharma in the Rajya Sabha polls has not only dealt a severe political setback to the Gupkar Alliance but also proven that the elected legislators of Jammu and Kashmir now stand firmly with the politics of development, stability, and nationalism.

In a statement, Balbir Ram Rattan said that Sharma’s victory is the result of the development work carried out over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the precise strategy of Home Minister Amit Shah, and the united vision of the Jammu BJP unit.

He further noted that despite the BJP having only 28 legislators, Sharma secured 32 votes to achieve victory, reflecting the complete trust that both the people and their representatives have in the BJP’s policies.

His victory proves that Jammu and Kashmir’s politics has now risen above caste and regional boundaries, and that people are voting purely on issues of development and good governance.

Balbir Ram Rattan emphasised that the defeat of the Gupkar Alliance signifies that the public has now rejected parties that have long engaged only in power politics.

He also highlighted that this victory is not merely the win of one candidate, but the triumph of the aspirations of a New Jammu and Kashmir, a region moving forward on the path of peace, progress, and equal development.

He said that this outcome is a victory for Prime Minister Modi’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, aur Sabka Prayas.” The trust that the elected representatives of Jammu and Kashmir, cutting across their affiliations, have placed in the BJP will guide the state in a new direction in the coming times and will only grow stronger in the future, he added.
